Okay......BIG THANK YOU to Carlos for braving the heat with me afterwork to put this "mod" to a test drive.
The Results: As said earlier - NOT FOR STREET USE! The test drive was an overall success! I did have some rubbing issues, but only when into the brakes hard or quickly letting off from WOT. The rubbing was minor overall. At WOT, no contact with road. Learned a couple things that will be helpful for the Mile. Done!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some quick answers to questions that may be asked: The ground clearance is 1.25 inches with the front tires at 36psi. No, it will not be able to be driven on the street. Yes, it will have to be installed at the event. Thoughts, opinions, critiques? Last edited by EPIC SRT; 08-02-2010 at 04:16 PM. |

I like the look, John! Will it keep everything cool and give you the added boost you were thinking of? Do you have an easy on/easy off plan to keep your ride available for the street...and then track ready?
Truly going to be an "Epic SRT"!!

The Mojave mile is an all out race for 1 mile to see how fast your car travels to my understanding.
Your car needs to be as aerdynamic as possible. With the huge nostrils. Serves purpose on the street. But not so much traveling a higher speeds. I think the lower lip will create enough downforce to help stablize the front end therefore allowing you to attain a higher speed. I think it looks very good. I think the way most racers were attaining higher speeds. I think it was even tried on Myth Busters. You may have to seal the front end nostrils with something. Albeit even duck tape on that day. My idea is this though. If you were able to create some type of aluminum covers that had studs to go through the grill. The butterfly clamps within the grill to securely fasten them. This would create an option to quickly remove and install to help aerodynamics. Now the aluminum cover would need something behind them not to scratch your paint while they wiggled at higher speeds. So maybe a pad type of tape. Or even your double sided tape that you mentioned would work better as they would adhere and wiggle even less at higher speeds. Okay. Enough ranting. Just my 2 cents. That of course is if I was discussing the write topic. Dohh! |

Really nice work John!
What do you think about the weather for the upcoming Mojave mile. It's probably gonna be hot hot hot. You think heat soak is gonna be an issue? Looking at your video clip form last time, it looks like the weather was on the cooler side.
