Default Challenger on Forbes Fastest under 50K list

http://www.forbes.com/2010/05/05/fastest-cars-bmw-lifestyle-vehicles-porsche-audi-torque-horsepower_slide_4.html

Of course, they didn't include the Charger or 300 on this list. But at least the amazing Challenger did. Also, it lists the estimated top speed at 140ish. That's odd. They didn't slow them down did they?

Very odd, indeed!!! They show the Camaro SS with a top speed of 160ish on the 6-spd, however, the cost at $33k+??? Something is wrong with their assessments!!

Good luck finding the SS at that cost...or an SRT only doing 140 mph and costing $9k more!

I know, there were a lot of things that didn't make sense. I mean, can you even get an SRT Challenger for under 50K? Maybe, but not much lower I wouldn't think. It was my understanding that some of the non-srt models of the Charger had a speed governor in the 150 range, but I know the SRT Chargers can go around 170.

I was reading the same article this morning. I don't think they researched things very well. Price and top speed numbers didn't seem accurate. Was the Lexus IS even on the list?

Somebody is always trashin us. The top speed is determined by your tire rating. My RT should do 149, The SRT is 170. They set this at the factory on the computer so the throttle wont go higher than the tire rating for liability.
This body style was wind tunnel tested up to 180. I saw a utube of an SRT it was at 156 and still accelerating when he ran out of road. Don't listen to the magazine guys they don't research cars they arn't interested in and most have a bias anyway.

I know for a fact that a brick shaped like a Magnum will do at least 173 (ask grinner or Matt or CV), I'm sure the Chally will be at least that quick
