Update September 3, 2010******************************************
I will be leaving Merced by 10 AM on Friday, September 24. I need to get to Mojave with plenty of time to get my mods put on and make it over to vehicle texh inspection. If you would like to go, please let me know by PM or posting up on if you plan on attending - EVEN if only to watch. Spectators must me be ready to go in the gate at 6AM on Saturday morning (I will verify this time). I will need a head count so I can secure enough wrist bands and releases to sign. THERE IS NO COST TO SPECTATE! BRING FOOD/DRINK AND CHAIRS! If you don't make it by then, you may not be able to get in. Last year they where pretty strict on this rule. If you are coming from the Bay (Mark where you at??) or North of me, you can stay the night at my place on Thursday if that is easier. It's about a 3-4 hour drive from Merced. I will be staying at the Desert Inn, just down the road from the airport. Not lavish, but is a bed to sleep on and is cheap. $50 a night, double occupancy. www.mojavedesertinn.com ************************************************** **********End of Update The next Mojave Mile, presented by MKM Racing Productions, is scheduled to take place the weekend of September 25, 2010! www.mojavemile.com REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!!! PRICES HAVE BEEN UPDATED BELOW! There is now less than 60 days before this event will take place! Registration is still open. Saturday, September 25 – Race Day 1, Early Morning Registrations/Tech Inspections Sunday, September 26 – Race Day 2 It looks like things for Friday afternoon/evening are going to be similar to back in March, If you are planning on racing on Saturday, get there by Friday evening, if you can, to get your car teched. You can do it on Saturday morning, but that will delay your first run. Try to register early as things will be a lot easier and smoother on Friday. Racers: EPIC SRT (John) Sectators/Pit Crew: TxTwiStr09 (Tom) - Confirmed ?? GO-SRT-GO (??) Last edited by EPIC SRT; 09-04-2010 at 11:52 PM. |

Registration Information:
You can register today and pay as late as September 16, 2010. If you pay after the 16th, they charge a $25 late fee. Pricing is as follows for basic registration: 2 Days - $279 1 Day - $189 (Sunday Only) Basic registration means that is what it cost to get in the door and race! They offer extras, at additional charges of course, such as a top-speed certificate, shirts, ball caps, stickers, pre-pay for buffet breakfast and/or lunch and another thing or two. Classes and Rules Made Simple*** All vehicles must go through Tech Inspection to ensure compliance with the rules. Classes our vehicles would most likely run in and their required safety equipment are as follows: GT (Grand Touring) Class: Most of our vehicles will run in this class! NO ROLL BAR REQUIRED!!!! Speed Limit is 165 MPH. You are limited to 150MPH until you complete 1 successful pass between 140MPH and 150MPH. This is waived for those that have extensive track experience at high speeds. GT Class Safety Requirements: Helmet – SA2005 or SA2010, M2005 or M2010 with Nomex Head Sock. SA2000 or M2000 (with Nomex head sock) are still being allowed until 2011. A 2.5lb (minimum) BC-10 DOT compliant fire extinguisher must be mounted, with an all metal bracket, in the car within reach of the driver. If you don’t already have one, I can get them for about $50 each (don’t pay the $100+ that Jegs or Summit wants) and the metal bracket is easily modified (drilled) to fit where the center counsel bolts to the hump. Might think it’s a pain to remove counsel to install the extinguisher, but I can do them on-site before Tech in about 15-20 minutes. Not really that difficult and you won’t have to drill holes into your vehicle. Leather gloves at minimum, preferably Nomex race gloves (no synthetic materials allowed) If no racing suit, then all cotton clothing – pants and long sleeve shirt (no synthetic materials allowed). Leather top shoes or race shoes. All Other Classes: All other classes have more extensive requirements in addition to those of the GT Class. The next speed class is limited to about 190MPH and has the following additional requirements: Roll Bar Fire suite Head Sock Arm Restraints 4 or 5 Point Safety harness TIRES AND WHEELS: First and foremost – NO WHEELS LARGER THAN 20 INCHES IN DIAMETER ARE ALLOWED UNLESS THEY ARE A STOCK SIZE AS PROVEN BY THE DOOR STICKER No Bias Ply Tires. YOUR speed limit may be further reduced based on the speed rating of your tires! Check your tires! If you plan on driving 160MPH, then you should have ‘Z’, ‘W’ or ‘Y’ rated tires at minimum, unless your tires are on their approved race tire list (these are tires such as drag radials etc that may only have a “V” rating, but they will not impose MPH restrictions based on the rating). The most recent revision of the rule book can be found here: http://www.mojavemile.com/html/downloads.html It was last updated on July 21, 2010. ***PLEASE NOTE: Read the rule book! Would be great to have more LX’s out there! Last edited by EPIC SRT; 08-10-2010 at 01:04 PM. |

If anyone is interested in going to spectate, please post up and I will add your name to the list.
Spectators (copied from the their Rule Book): A word about spectators, children, and pets While there isn’t a separate spectator area per se, there is room for a limited number of spectators to attend. Spectators may sign the appropriate waivers and get a wristband allowing entry to the Paddock area. It will be possible to view the start line and the first part of each run, and there will be a speed display board set up that shows the speed for each run. We ask that spectators please make every effort to stay out of the way of racers, vehicles, and officials. Spectators may not go beyond the Paddock area. MKM reserves the right to expel unruly or disruptive spectators. Race entrants are reminded that they are responsible for the conduct of all persons that they bring with them, be they friends, family, crew, or otherwise. We must note here that the event operating areas are not "kid and pet friendly." There is nothing for young children to do, and pets are a safety hazard both to themselves and to others. Children and pets will not be allowed out of the Paddock area and must be supervised by an adult at all times. You cannot ever leave your children or pets unattended, or let them run loose on the airport grounds. Children also cannot operate ANY KIND of wheeled or motorized vehicle or device at ANY TIME. This includes bikes, trikes, scooters, pedal cars, razors, skateboards, skates, big wheels, RC vehicles, etc. Pets MUST be on a leash at all times, and a loose pet is grounds for expulsion from the event -- the last thing we need is a terrified, uncatchable dog loose on an active runway. Please DON’T bring your pets unless absolutely necessary. Last edited by EPIC SRT; 08-10-2010 at 04:10 PM. |

I would love to go, but doubt I would be able to spend the $$$ to compete, even if I would love to put the pedal to the metal on my car. So, if I can be put on your list of Pit Crew volunteers, I would at least love to take pics, etc for you John!!
