So I was out in my car the other day and realized the rear passenger door lock isn't locking. I can't even force the lock down. When I push it down it pushes right back up (it won't go all the way down either.)
I suspect this might have been caused by one of two things: 1. The door was repainted due to being keyed. I had some issues with the front door (window switch panel) after they repainted that side. So I figure if they screwed up one thing, a second is a real possibility. 2. I had a Viper alarm installed that uses the stock key/locks. I know that had to put a resistor or something in the doors. But wasn't that just to keep the alarm functioning correctly? Or might that have something to do with it? (I doubt it.) Before I go to the body shop and ask them to fix it, I wanted to see what you guys thought. I suppose it could always be something else random, but I doubt that too. Most of you have way more experience with the bits that make these cars up than me!

Do your windows lower properly? You might give the alarm folks a call to see if they opened the panel on that door...something could have been jammed on the door lock lever...other than that...????

The windows work fine and even the alarm works fine. The door doesn't lock, but if I open the door the alarm goes off.
If you push down on the lock it pushes down slightly but then comes back up. It is like there is something with hydraulic/pneumatic pressure. If you have owned an old Mercedes with hydraulic locks you may know what I am talking about.

I went to the body shop that painted my door and they fixed it. The rod was hitting the rubber body grommet in the door for some reason causing the binding. They trimmed the grommet slightly and voila! It took about 15 minutes total.
Thanks for the help folks!

Glad you got it fixed....nothing more annoying than locking your car and one door doesn't cooperate!

The scary thing is the door was probably not locked the last 1.5 years!
