I don't know your work schedule or finances but based on years of experience, you definitely want to head down on Thursday or very early Friday morning if at all possible (Thursday recommended). Some folks like me go down even earlier but that gives me a chance to visit with all my siblings and other family members. Others use the extra days to go to Disneyland, the beach cities, and such. Most folks check out on Sunday and head home.

Saturday is the actual day of the SF show, BUT....all the rest of the happenings and parties take place right in the parking lot area of the DoubleTree Hotel on Thursday and Friday and that's where it's truly happening.

If you can swing it....try to check-in on Thursday and check-out on Sunday...3 nights.

As time draws closer, more threads will go up on various convoys leaving on certain days if you want to join up with them. You can always drive down by yourself as I do, too.
