Default MagnaFlow Swap

Well, last week I decided I wanted to something a bit more to my exhaust system, which on the Classic R/T is already upgraded from the standard R/T's. So, after looking around a bit and talking to a few folks (and on a very limited budget!!!), I replaced my stock mufflers with new 11" MagnaFlows. The shop owner I suggested just replacing the mufflers, and if I needed more sound, then I could delete the resonators. The new exhaust was in place last Sunday in Elk Grove. I like it!!!

Here are the pics I took at different stages.

Stock exhaust system...

Resonators found on the Classic R/T models

Removed stock mufflers waiting for tip removal

Anyone interested in good sounding R/T mufflers - FOR SALE - SE Owners???

Checking final alignment before final welding

It does, for sure! I don't think I'll mess with the resonators. It sounds alot better when revved up and when you back off on it. I look forward to others opinions this weekend!

Yea at the M&G it sounded good.

I have a question about it though. Is the challenger exhaust different then the other LXs? I thought the mufflers were in the middle and resos were in the back. Which means it looks like you replaced your resos with mufflers?

Here's the best way to explain your question:

When paired with the Tremec six-speed manual transmission, the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic features the performance-minded Track Pak's precision-shift "pistol-grip" shifter, bright pedals, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with defeatable traction control, Hill Start Assist (HSA), four-wheel disc performance braking system and an anti-spin 3.92 differential. A performance-tuned dual exhaust optimizes engine back pressure and exhaust throatiness by replacing the standard under-floor muffler with two low-restriction bottle resonators. The result, a powerful 376 horsepower (280 kW) and 410 lb.-ft. of torque (556 N•m) that can accelerate the Dodge Challenger R/T Classic from zero to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds.
