Well, been putting it off long enough so went and had my SMOG test done this afternoon. Was a little nervouse since everything on top is ported and it has a mild/moderate cam.
Looks like I had nothing to worry about as it not only passed, but was only a tiny blip on the emissions (sniffer) portion of the test! Was sweating a bit, but happy now!

I'm assuming that this was with stock cats. It seems like LX's pass pretty easily as long as you have stock cats and don't fail visual inspection for something like long tubes.
I've wondered about having a 6.1 manifold or eagle heads since you disable EGR to do so and I've had inspectors look for that before. I also still want to find someone who has reregistered their car with a 6.1 block from a different one. Not sure how hard that is to do or how much paperwork is involved.

I passed with heads & cam last March. As Andy mentions, the key is leaving the stock cats on. As far as having a 6.1 intake manifold on a 5.7 without EGR, I'll find out in 2013 when I'm scheduled to test again. Good news is, even with a pro-series cam, no EGR and high flow cats, my OBDII system is in a ready state with no flags. With CA starting OBDII testing only in 2013, looks like my only issue will be getting past the visual. I'm hanging onto my 5.7 manifold and EGR set-up just in case........We'll see.

Lucky you....Congrats! I originally failed visual simply because of my after market CAI (that wasn't CARB approved).
