Default Speedway project

Well for a few years now T.J. (my son) has wanted to race at The Bakersfield Speedway aka The Okie Bowl.
So in November we bought a '73 Chevelle (I know it's not a Mopar). The kid who owned it finished in 8th place last year. It has a punched out SB.400. This is for the American Stock class. You can't do a lot of mods to the motor, No touch 500 2 bbl. Holly carb, no headers, no MDS, no posi rearend.
First time on track should be 2-26-11.
Our first race should be 3-12-11

We were going to build a car but after we bought the other car found it was to short. the roll bar and motor would cost too much. It still has been a few$$$$. But sofar it's been fun.

Have fun!! If you decide to do another engine, destroke the 400 to 377(uses350 crank, pretty common short track deal), get a better intake(alum.dual plane), custom ground cheater cam that meets the lift specs & will work w/the 2BBl & stock manifolds. That sucker will haul A** ,D.

Default Update

Well we got some primer and paint done this weekend. Also found that the shoulder belts were only mounted to a small piece of 1/8" metal with only one weld pass on it,,,FAIL !!. I made 2 larger 1/4" thick brackets W/ weld on all sides much better.
T.J. did the primer job. Looked good, first time painting not using a rattle can. LOL.
